Japanese for Teens Level 1

Japanese video course designed for teens to self-study Japanese. Gain proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening Japanese through step-by-step video lesson taught by an experienced Japanese teacher.

Japanese for Teens is an online video course designed for children aged 12 to 17 years old who are new to Japanese. Lessons are presented through short video lessons covering a wide variety of topics, such as family, daily activities, and numbers to tell time and to count different objects.

Lesson instruction is given in both English and Japanese to enable students to gradually build their speaking and listening skills. Romanized Japanese writing and hiragana are used throughout the course to ease learning and develop students’ hiragana reading skill.

The speed of the videos can be adjusted to suit student’s preference. The quality of the videos can also be adjusted to match student’s internet speed.

About the Instructor:
Reiko Ayoub (B.A.) teaches Japanese for teens classes at Asian Language School. She studied at Waseda University Graduate School of Japanese Applied Linguistics. Previously, she worked as an English instructor in Tokyo.

What will students learn in this course?
Students will learn step-by-step essential Japanese grammar, useful vocabularies for school and daily life, and how to construct sentences using the grammar and vocabularies learned. Students will also learn the complete hiragana script so that by the end of this course they are able to read and write hiragana.The instructor will enrich the course by introducing students to a variety of Japanese cultures.
 
How to use this course?
  • Students should aim to study 2-3 topics each week and complete the course within half-a-year time.
  • Print the study notes before watching the video lesson and take your own notes while learning.
  • Complete the quiz and homework for each topic before moving on to the next topic.
